Reflecting on 2024

Writer's picture: 28East28East

As 2024 comes to an end, we take a moment to reflect on a year filled with progress, innovation, and meaningful connections. For 28East, this year was all about growth, where we expanded our services, enhanced customer experiences, and strengthened our commitment to innovation in Africa’s tech landscape.

Keep reading to take a closer look at the highlights that defined 2024 for 28East.

A Year of Achievements

1. Strengthening our core offerings

Our Feasibility API continued to grow in popularity, enabling more Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to streamline operations and increase efficiency. This tool has become indispensable for ISPs seeking accurate and fast feasibility checks to optimise lead generation.

2. Empowering logistics with Google’s mobility solutions

We deepened our partnership with Google to help logistics companies improve their operations. By leveraging tools like the Route Optimisation API and Navigation SDK, businesses enhanced the experiences of users, drivers, and fleet operators. These solutions opened new doors for customer engagement and operational cost savings.

3. Modernising for the Future

This year, we successfully revamped our front-end applications, creating a smoother, more user-friendly experience for our customers. Behind the scenes, our ongoing backend modernisation ensures our systems remain robust, reliable, and primed for future challenges.

Beyond Work, Building Connections and Giving Back

At 28East, we believe in balancing hard work with moments of joy and camaraderie. This year, our team bonded over activities like go-karting, bowling, and golf outings with our valued customers. These events reminded us that strong relationships fuel innovation and collaboration.

Equally important was our commitment to giving back. We supported impactful organisations like CANSA, Jacaranda Children’s Home, and the 9 Miles Project, reaffirming our dedication to uplifting needy communities.

Key Updates for the Holiday Season

As we wrap up the year, we want to ensure a seamless experience for all our partners:

  • Annual software freeze: From 1 December 2024 to 2 January 2025, no new deployments will be made, ensuring stability during the holiday period.

  • Feasibility updates: These will continue until Friday, 13 Dec 2024, and will resume during the first week of January 2025.

  • Standby support: Rest assured, our support team will be available throughout this period to address urgent issues. We’ll be available for all online services from Friday, 13 Dec 2024 to 2 Jan 2025.

  • Giving season: Our team remains committed to helping non-profits and extending goodwill into the new year.

Looking Ahead to 2025

As we plan for 2025, the horizon is brimming with possibilities. Here are just a few initiatives that excite us:

  • Expanding feasibility solutions: We’re onboarding new Fibre Network Operators, ensuring our services reach more regions and open new markets for ISPs.

  • Celebrating local innovation: The launch of the Google Cloud South Africa Region in March 2025 will be a significant milestone, bringing world-class cloud infrastructure closer to home.

  • Enhancing efficiency through integration: With new API technologies, our customers will experience greater automation, accuracy, and efficiency.

  • Hosting in-person events: We’re thrilled to bring back our popular ISP events, fostering deeper engagement with our clients and industry leaders.

Thank You for a Remarkable 2024

To our customers, partners, and the 28East team, thank you for making 2024 a year to remember. Your support, trust, and collaboration drive our mission to utilise map-powered applications and location intelligence for Africa’s most progressive businesses.

As we gear up for 2025, we remain committed to empowering businesses, exploring new opportunities, and shaping the future of Africa’s tech landscape. Here’s to another year of innovation, impact, and success!
